Blade and Bow Bourbon (750mL)-

$55.95 $33.57 (In Stock)

Size: Default Title

The Blade and Bow story began with the founding of the legendary Stitzel-Weller Distillery in 1935, a Louisville icon and home to the fathers of bourbon.  With a commitment to craftsmanship and artistry, Stitzel-Weller reimagined what Kentucky Bourbon could be until distilling stopped in 1992.

On the door of the legendary Stitzel-Weller Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky, hung five brass keys, which is how this bourbon name came to be. Named after the two parts of a skeleton key, the blade shaft and the ornate bow, the Blade and Bow brand is a tribute to the five keys that once hung on the door of the Stitzel-Weller Distillery.

The iconic Five Keys symbol can still be found adorning the renowned Stitzel-Weller Distillery. These keys embody the five essential steps of crafting exceptional bourbon- grains, yeast, fermentation, distillation and aging. More importantly, the iconic Five Keys also symbolize the Southern traditions of hospitality, warmth, and enjoying the finer things in life.

A homage to the legendary Stitzel-Weller distillery, Blade and Bow Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey and the base variant uses a unique Solera System aging process to preserve some of the distillery’s oldest whiskey stocks, including some of the last bourbon produced there before it closed in 1992
The solera liquid is mingled with other fine whiskies aged and bottled at Stitzel-Weller. Aged in new charred American white oak barrels.

Blade and Bow Bourbon Tasting Notes:

Nose: Floral notes arrive first (violet and lavender), competing with strong notions of cherry and cinnamon red hots, followed by  a hints of very ripe honeydew melon, oak aromas and generic bourbon “spice”.

Mouthfeel: somewhat thin and dry, suggesting there might be some more well-aged and oaky bourbon in the mix

Palate: Green apple mingles with pear, peach, licorice, and anise hyssop with dominant note of violet lozenge in the finish, which gives the spirit a perfumery character.

Finish: The dusty and tannic oak character gives the finish a drying and astringent quality, which is accented pleasantly by some burnt orange peel.
